New Zealand Government Scholarships

Manaaki New Zealand International Scholarships

The New Zealand Government provides complete scholarships for international students who are eligible to study full-time at a New Zealand education institution or a Pacific university. These scholarships are available to citizens of specific countries in the Pacific, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The scholarships cover full tuition fees, a weekly living allowance (NZ$531), an establishment allowance (NZ$3000), medical and travel insurance, travel to and from your home country and New Zealand at the beginning and end of your scholarship, travel back home during your scholarship, and assistance with research and thesis costs for many postgraduate students.

New Zealand University Scholarships 

University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship

The University of Auckland is offering the International Student Excellence Scholarship for new international students applying to study a taught PGDip or Masters program of 120 points or more. It is also available for those applying to study undergraduate degrees with overseas secondary or post-secondary qualifications in any subject. The primary aim of the scholarship is to attract high-caliber international students to enroll in undergraduate or postgraduate taught programs lasting one year or more at the University of Auckland. Up to 50 scholarships will be awarded bi-annually, with each scholarship valued at up to $10,000 for both postgraduate and undergraduate study, depending on whether the candidate is starting studies in Semester 1 or Semester 2.

Tongarewa Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington
Victoria University of Wellington is offering the Tongarewa Scholarship as a way to honor the university’s dedication to its international student community. This scholarship is open to eligible individuals entering their first year of an undergraduate degree or starting a postgraduate degree program at Victoria University of Wellington. Scholarship recipients are anticipated to serve as ambassadors for the university, participating in relevant events or marketing activities if needed. For Bachelors and Masters degrees, there are up to 10 scholarships of NZ$10,000 each, and for Masters degrees only, there are up to 9 scholarships of NZ$5,000 each.

University of Otago International Research Masters Scholarships
The University of Otago International Master’s Award offers financial support to international students pursuing a thesis-based Master’s Degree at the University of Otago. The scholarship comprises an annual stipend of NZ$17,172 and a tuition fee waiver for one year, limited to the domestic rate for Master’s study (excluding student services fee and insurance).

University of Waikato International Excellence Scholarships 

The scholarships are designed for highly skilled international students who exhibit outstanding academic performance and show the potential to represent the University of Waikato on a global scale. Eligible applicants should be planning to enroll at the University of Waikato for the first time, pursuing either an undergraduate or postgraduate degree. The scholarship is valued at up to NZ$10,000, which is credited towards tuition fees.

180-credit Taught Master’s Merit Scholarship at Lincoln University

Lincoln University provides scholarships ranging from NZ$7,000 to NZ$10,000 for eligible international students pursuing one of the 180-credit taught master’s programs.
