Scholarship benefits

The scholarship is valued between €3,000 and €22,000 for a single year. For students enrolled in a two-year study program, they have the opportunity to receive an extra UTS equivalent to the amount awarded in the first year, contingent upon meeting the stipulated process requirements for the UTS.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for a UTS, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. Separate Application Process: Applying for a UT scholarship is a distinct process from applying for course entry at the University of Twente. Regardless of funding, securing an admission letter is a prerequisite.
  2. Programme Admission: You should have received (provisional) admission to one of the qualifying UT Master’s programs commencing in the academic year 2024/2025 (September). Note: Results may take up to 8 weeks post-application.
  3. Student Number: Possession of a valid student number is mandatory.
  4. Previous UT Graduation: You must not have graduated from a University of Twente graduate program.
  5. Entry Visa Compliance: Fulfillment of conditions for obtaining an entry visa in the Netherlands, if applicable.
  6. Language Proficiency: Compliance with the general English language test requirement of Academic IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT 90) and an additional 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) on the subscore of speaking skills.
  7. No Dutch Study Loan: Ineligibility for a Dutch study loan is a prerequisite.
  8. Academic Excellence: The University Twente Scholarship is reserved for outstanding students, typically placing them in the top 5 to 10 percent of their class.

How to apply

Initiate the process by applying for a Master’s program. Upon receiving a (conditional) admission letter, proceed to apply for the scholarship using your assigned student number. Round 1 applications, commencing on October 15, 2023, have a deadline of February 1, 2024. For Round 2, starting on February 1, 2024, the application deadline is May 1, 2024.
